Spoiler… Elizabeth and Henry are the parents of Henry VIII… 1491 – The Constant Princess At the time of their wedding Elizabeth was in love with the enemy, Richard. She has to make a choice between Tudor and York. The Tudor dynasty starts with Henry Tudor who wins on the BosBosworth Field from Richard III and marries Elizabeth of York. We were always chatting about anything and everything. I spent a lot of time with my daughter and boyfriend, we all got on great. I warmed immediately to this boy and he fit really easily into the family. My thinking has always been, if they are asking, they are wanting to know, and if they can't ask me, they will ask someone else, who may not know themselves. I am a very open and honest mum and have always spoke openly with my kids about anything they wanted to talk about. Especially with her only being 13, I needed and wanted to get to know this person well, who she was starting to spend a lot with. I met him almost immediately, we are a large, close family and I always wanted my kids partners to be welcomed and for us all to get on. They had been "talking" on and off for about 6 months prior to going official, so by the time they went official, they were already pretty close. This boy is 2 school years above her, it works out about 18 months older than her. At the beginning of May this year, 5 months ago, she started her first relationship. Can hardly believe I'm writing this but after a week of hardly no sleep and relationship at breaking point, I need more outside advice.

Branches of Hope by Ann Magee5/12/2023 May of this year saw the release of this title from author Ann Magee and illustrator Nicole Wong, as well as author/illustrator Sean Rubin's This Very Tree: A Story of 9/11, Resilience, and Regrowth. Quite a few of them address the story of the survivor tree - a symbol of hope in dark times. As notable dates and anniversaries tend to find their way into children's publishing, it is less surprising that a number of picture-books have either recently been published, or are forthcoming on the subject. It's hard for me to believe, but this coming September 11th will mark the 20th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. Then, in 2011, on the tenth anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, it was returned to its former home, incorporated into the memorial park built to honor the victims of that terrible day. When its few remaining green leaves were noticed by a rescue worker, the tree was excavated and evacuated, taken to a nursery in the Bronx, and slowly nursed back to health. Astonishingly, this tree survived, clinging to life amidst the wreckage. On a bright, sunny morning in September, when two skyscrapers came crashing down in lower Manhattan, brought low by one of the worst terrorist attacks in human history, the mounds of charred metal and debris buried a small Callery pear tree, formerly standing at the base of the World Trade Center.

Wicked Nights by Gena Showalter5/12/2023 Wicked Nights is a story I found on the shelf of my local library, and even though I am WAY behind on her other connection series “Lords of the Underwold” I just knew that this is a book I would enjoy, and yeah I had some good times with this one. Zacharel is her only hope for survival, but is the brutal angel with a touch as hot as hell her salvation-or her ultimate damnation? Demons track her every move, and their king will stop at nothing to have her. But this warrior with a heart of ice will not be deterred from his missions, at any cost.until a vulnerable human tempts him with a carnal pleasure he's never known before.Īccused of a crime she did not commit, Annabelle Miller has spent four years in an institution for the criminally insane. Leader of the most powerful army in the heavens, Zacharel has been deemed nearly too dangerous, too ruthless-and if he isn't careful, he'll lose his wings. Also in this series: Beauty Awakened, Burning Dawnįrom the New York Times bestselling author who brought you the Lords of the Underworld comes a dark, seductive new series featuring angels poised on the brink of destruction.

James comey a higher loyalty5/12/2023 (Full disclosure: This critic certainly did. “Even knowing what I know now, I wouldn’t have done it differently,” he writes in his 2016 wrap-up, “but I can imagine good and principled people in my shoes making different choices about some things.” It’s all too easy to imagine either a Clinton or Trump partisan reading that vague “some things” phrasing and flailing their arms in renewed exasperation. What, I wondered, could possibly interfere. I fully intended to serve as director of the FBI through the year 2023, writes Comey, that year being when his 10-year term, begun under Barack Obama, expired. He pores over each of his most controversial decisions - such as deciding to publicly reveal, days before the election, that a criminal inquiry into Hillary Clinton’s private email server had been reopened - but comes to conclusions certain to satisfy no one but the most willingly forgiving. Former FBI director Comey, much in the news, reviews his career and speaks his mind about his dismissal. Indeed, Comey is on a bit of a redemption tour here, a reclaiming of his legacy. The good-faith reading of all this is the version Comey himself is selling, most recently on ABC’s 20/20 with George Stephanopoulos: that Trump is not normal, not “morally fit,” not worthy of the same respect and admiration as George W.

The book thief author5/12/2023 Yes, it inextricably involves the terrible imprint of Nazi Germany. This is not simply another book about the holocaust. "It kills me sometimes how people die." -Death The result is certain unpredictability to an otherwise fixed historical timeline. The chapter names sometimes act as clever foreshadowing, and in some cases, a wry form of misleading. This presentation choice could easily have gone the way of overdone trope, but instead it’s used in sparing measure-with a reverent balance of gallows humor and haunting profundity. When a book is narrated by Death itself, one doesn’t proceed with the expectation of sunshine and happiness. (And I owe thanks to everyone who warned me not to let the slowness of the beginning dissuade me.) Once the story finally does pick up, it sucks you in with dread hopefulness and rending empathy. The subject matter made this reader hesitate initially to take it on, but enough endorsement finally pushed me over the edge. A gutting, wrenching, reverberating work of heart.

Crush richard siken poems5/10/2023 Richard Siken: Even before I could attempt to address my concerns about the problems of representation, I had to come to terms with the ramifications of having already made something. Do these questions of representation have anything to do with the significant length of time between books? This is your first collection in ten years. Peter Mishler: In your new collection of poems War of the Foxes there are lines that express concern about art’s ability to represent reality. The poet’s resistance to answering certain questions-and his generosity in responding to others-reveals a deep respect for his art, which I am grateful that he shared with me. Siken to correspond with me through email to discuss this long-anticipated collection. Pleased to discover that Copper Canyon Press will soon release his second book War of the Foxes, I invited Mr. Since its release, I have turned to Crush many times to take pleasure in the images and voices that populate its poems. It has been ten years since Richard Siken’s first collection Crush was selected for the Yale Series of Younger Poets.
